Lausanne Palace - Lausanne, Switzerland

Celebrating surrealism in the capital of the olympics

Lausanne became capital of the Olympic Games in 1915, and the legendary five-ring flag flies proudly from the roof of the Lausanne Palace Hotel. Why is that? Because, since 1980, the Lausanne Palace has been home to the presidents of the IOC (International Olympic Committee), and the Olympic spirit is celebrated here every day. Another celebration is being marked this year, very near the Lausanne Palace. The fabulous Platforme 10 Museum is marking the centenary of Surrealism with a vast exhibit. Swiss artist, Jean Tinguely, who founded the Movement of the New Surrealists, was commissioned by IOC President Juan-Antonio Samaranch to design the 1990 poster marking the 75th anniversary of the IOC. What goes around comes around.

Thus, this long-awaited first edition of the Lausanne Palace City Guide is published to celebrate both the Olympic Games and Surrealism.
Which some might call a surreal combination.

The common thread of their cuisine ? "I don’t want to be creative just for the sake of being creative. I want to update memories. I want to transcribe the sensations we’ve experienced into this or that dish, in all the stages that marked our journeys.”

The Bar - Palace style

Completely redesigned last April, Le LP’s Bar at the Lausanne Palace sets the tone! Its staff of super-skilled bartenders, led by the talented Dimitri Daninthe, promise a fabulous experience. We’re talking signature cocktails and a brilliant tasting menu. The bar is ideal for afterwork drinks, complete with DJ every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. In fine weather, the lake-facing and cityside terraces of LP’s Bar are considered the best spots in the city.

Hidden behind the mirror, we’ve imagined LE SEPT, a private bar... more information at le7(at)lausanne-palace.ch
